DTGS – 2026 is an international collaborative platform for researchers to discuss the transformative impact of digital technology on governments and societies across the globe, with a special emphasis on the BRICS countries. The key topic of DTGS-2024 is related to the digital transformation of governance, as well as political communication online.

DTGS has been held since 2016. In 2024 it was combined with another conference organized by ITMO University – EGOSE.

We welcome multidisciplinary papers that apply approaches from the social sciences and humanities to research on social and political institutions, practices, human communication and other behavior in cyberspace, as well as offline, if those are directly influenced by recent digital transformations and are related to governance or political participation.

We are especially interested in papers falling into the following topics

  • Smart Cities, Digital Transformation of Urban Systems
  • E-Participation and Civic Engagement Online
  • Online Political Communication and Social Media Research

SUBMISSIONS

  • Authors need to submit a paper to DTGS-2026 via the Microsoft CMT system.
  • Papers must be submitted in PDF format according to the template, containing 12–15 pages, in the English language.
  • Submissions must be prepared for a double-blind peer review: they must not include authors’ names and affiliations.
  • All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer review by at least three members of the Program Committee.
  • The authors of accepted papers will be invited to participate in DTGS-2026. Only papers presented at the conference by at least one co-author will be recommended for publication.

PUBLICATIONS

Selected papers may be recommended for publication in English in the special issue of the Politbook journal, indexed in the White List of Academic Journals.

The accepted and presented papers will be included in the IMS-2026 Proceedings and indexed in Scopus.
